Cagliari defender Diego Godin is reportedly considering a new proposal from Real Betis, after resisting the previous Besiktas bid.

The centre-back is not in the plans of the Sardinians for this season, largely because his €3.8m per season salary is now untenable for the club.

He is on the market, but seemed unimpressed by the idea of joining Turkish club Besiktas.

According to transfer pundit Nicolò Schira, a new and more promising proposal has arrived from Spanish side Real Betis.

Not only would this allow the former Atletico Madrid legend to return to La Liga, but also work with his old coach Manuel Pellegrini.

The Uruguay international played 72 games under Pellegrini at Villarreal from 2007-09.

He then moved to Atletico Madrid in 2010 and remained there for nine years, going to Italy for Inter as a free agent in 2019 and Cagliari a year after that.
