Inter’s 10-man display impressed boss Andrea Stramaccioni following the 2-2 Europa League draw with Vaslui.

Although they didn’t collect the win they were expecting, they still progressed to the competition proper thanks to a show of strength by coming from behind on two occasions.

“Inter didn’t play 30 sparkling minutes as we have in other matches, but we hit the crossbar and cut out other clear chances,” he stated after goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi saw red in the opening half.

“Then of course the penalty changed everything, but I choose to see the glass half full because over 60 minutes we showed something important.

“We showed we didn’t want to simply content ourselves and that we wanted to qualify at all costs.

“And then from a tactical point of view the red card changed the match, but we never lost our ability to counter.

“Vaslui never seemed dangerous to me, while we never lost our strength to hit them on the break.”

Inter will find out the names of their Europa League group opponents later today when the draw is made in Monaco.
