Although they are running away at the top of Serie A with a nine-point lead, they crashed out of the Coppa Italia on penalties to Cremonese midweek.

“We hope there will be no more setbacks, we are still angry at going out of the Coppa Italia, but we go forward and look to the future with optimism,” Giuntoli told DAZN.

Kvaratskhelia is out ill today, so Giuntoli was asked if Napoli are working to lock him down to a new contract already?

“We don’t need to do anything right now, as there is a long contract. We are relaxed, there is a good rapport with the player and his agents. We need to focus right now on the daily grind of playing games and getting results.”

The Georgia international turns 22 next month and was snapped up from Dinamo Batumi for just €10m last summer.

His current contract runs to June 2027, but there have been reports Napoli are working with his agents to get a new deal in place with improved salary and even more guarantees to keep him at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Kvaratskhelia has been a revelation with nine goals and 12 assists between Serie A and the Champions League.

  1. I don’t know why Serie A teams don’t bleed EPL teams dry when they come around looking to poach their best players. Take all thier money for crying out loud!

  2. some time it’s not about the money if you have not won a scudetto for over 30 years you have the chance too win you have too make sure that the fans are happy
