Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud hinted a move to Milan could still happen, despite the renewal with the Blues.

The Londoners triggered a one-year extension with the France international, but the striker doesn’t rule out a move this summer.

“I want to make it clear that Chelsea reactivated the clause in April and they recently announced it to comply with the Premier League rules,” Giroud said, according to Goal.com.

“It’s fair to remember that I liked Marco van Basten and Andriy Shevchenko. Milan are a big club and one of the great teams in Europe.

“But, today, I will not talk about my future at the club because I’m focused on France and the Euros, which is fast approaching.”

MilanNews explains the Chelsea striker was tempted by several Premier League clubs, and the Blues thus opted to trigger the extension to avoid Giroud moving to any direct rivals.

The report believes the player’s agent can ask Chelsea to let the 34-year-old leave on a free transfer should an offer arrive from abroad.

Milan have specified they will not pay a compensation for the veteran but will gladly sign Giroud on a free transfer this summer.

The outlet claims a deal between Giroud and Milan can be done, but will be pushed by a few weeks due to Euro 2020.
