Sebastian Giovinco explains his reasons for leaving Juventus, saying he felt like ‘a burden’ before moving to Toronto FC.

The Atomic Ant joined the MLS side in January, leaving Juventus six months early, and spoke to Corriere dello Sport with the season set to get underway.

“I felt that if I stayed [at Juventus] I’d have been a burden,” Giovinco explained.

“The club wanted to bring my departure forward.

“I hope to return to the national team, but I’m calm.”

The Atomic Ant joined the MLS side in January, leaving Juventus six months early, and spoke to Corriere dello Sport with the season set to get underway.

“I felt that if I stayed [at Juventus] I’d have been a burden,” Giovinco explained.

“I hope to return to the national team, but I’m calm.”

The diminutive forward also discussed his new life in Canada, and spoke positively of the city he now calls home.

“The city [Toronto] is fantastic, as are the fans. It’s like a mini New York, and life is good.

“Football is going through a fantastic evolution, we’re a young team and we can have fun and build well in the next few years.

“It would be pointless to deny the economic aspect, but I wanted to get away from Italy and the US fascinated me.”
