Juventus are being linked with a deadline day move for Alberto Gilardino – much to the frustration of Genoa.

The Old Lady could swoop for the striker if they first sell Fabio Quagliarella, a forward who isn’t guaranteed playing time in Turin.

“We’ll work in the night,” Genoa President Enrico Preziosi stated when asked about a possible Gilardino exit.

“It’s not right that the big clubs ask for players on the final day of the window and some players then ask to be sold on deadline day.

“If someone wants to leave then they just need to raise their hand and assume some responsibility.

“However, if we have no replacements available then nothing will happen. But we have an alternative. Actually we have alternatives.”

Gilardino and Quagliarella could be involved in a domino style set of transfers.

Reports on Sunday night claimed Quagliarella – also linked with Lazio, West Ham and West Brom – could join Roma, who then would release Marco Borriello to Genoa. The latter’s switch would then free Gilardino.
