Enrico Preziosi believes Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino will be out of action for anything up to a month, after he suffered a calf injury yesterday.

The 29-year-old forward, a January signing from Fiorentina, picked up the injury during training with the Grifone this week and his President Preziosi believes it will keep him sidelined for close to a month.

“I am very sorry about this, but with a cold climate like the present, it is easy to get injured,” he reflected to Il Corriere dello Sport.

“I am very sorry about this, but with a cold climate like the present, it is easy to get injured,” he reflected to Il Corriere dello Sport.

“I think it will be three to four weeks before he is back on the pitch.

“It’s too bad because we had found a balance in attack and we were trying to defend. Let’s see what happens. Sunday will be an important test.”

Genoa face Catania this weekend and in the next month play Atalanta, Chievo, Parma and Lecce.
