Alberto Gilardino reckons that Milan will be patient with Fernando Torres, despite his scoring difficulties so far.

Gila scored 44 goals in 132 games in all competitions for the Rossoneri between 2005 and 2008 and knows that it can take time to adapt in such a big club.

“Just like me, Torres is lucky enough to play in a club that has patience with the players,” Gilardino has told Milan Channel today.

“Even when things don’t go well, the club is there.

“Just like me, Torres is lucky enough to play in a club that has patience with the players,” Gilardino has told Milan Channel today.

“Even when things don’t go well, the club is there.

“I am sure that they will do it for Torres too. He is a player with great qualities and I’ve always liked him.”

On Sunday morning, his Guangzhou Evergrande will need just a point to win the Chinese League, but Gilardino should still have time to watch the anticipated clash between his two former clubs, as Milan host Fiorentina.

“I played three seasons with Milan and I’ll always have fond memories about those years.

“I played with some outstanding players and won a lot of trophies. But also in Florence I lived very well.

“I am really proud to have worn the shirt of both clubs.

“Considering last weekend’s results for Milan and Fiorentina, I expect an entertaining game on Sunday.”

One of the ‘outstanding players’ he may have referred to is current Coach Filippo Inzaghi for whom Gila has everything but praise.

“I expected Inzaghi to be so energetic – he is able to transform tension into positive energy and charge others up.

“He did it as a player and now he is doing it as a Coach. I think that against Verona, Milan showed that they know how to suffer.”

Gilardino also expressed solidarity with people in Genoa who where hit with floods lately.

“I played for a season in Genoa and I was really sorry to hear about the situation.

“Genoese people are strong and will react to this tragedy. I am close to Genoa and its people in this difficult moment.”
