The soon-to-be-29-year-old is currently one of Ligue 1's outstanding players this term, with 11 goals to his name so far.

With his contract due to expire this summer, the striker, who has been linked with a move to the Nerazzurri, has today reflected on his future.

“As a child I wanted to become a professional and play for Marseille,” Gignac has told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“But now I think I'll be leaving the team at the end of the season, though I want to see what [Coach Marcelo] Bielsa is going to do.

“I am looking for new, high-profile challenges.”

Gignac's original transfer to Marseille has been surrounded by controversy, the operation has been deemed to be irregular and the club's two directors were recently arrested, but the striker dismissed his past.

“They were annoying and baseless polemics,” he said. “But that's the price you pay in Marseille.

“My secret target is to play in Euro 2016, but competition is tough and I have to prove I'm at the right level.

“Inter are an institution, [Roberto] Mancini is great. It would be a nice prospect.

“I live for football, I follow all the great Leagues, even the Russian and Turkish ones. I admire the tactical culture of the Italians.

“Besides, I played in Marassi, against Sampdoria, in a friendly in August 2013. I even scored. There was a beautiful show of support.

“I will consider every proposal with the attention and the requirement transmitted to me by Bielsa's teachings.”
