Donnarumma was forced to apologise for a joke with his uncle, in which he claimed to have tried pulling his hand back to let in Arkadiusz Milik’s stoppage-time shot during Napoli’s goalless draw with Milan last weekend.

The 19-year-old was born in Castellammare di Stabia, just 30km from Naples, and an ultras group belonging to the Partenopei appeared to spray graffiti on a wall in the area, calling him ‘villainous and childish’ for his conduct.

The group, 1926 Ultra Napoli, has yet to confirm whether the message was written by one of its members.
