“These first 10 days of training have gone beyond my expectations, working hard with enthusiasm and ambition. Time will tell, but I am confident. I am sure that I can give this team an identity, a brand, something recognisable, which is what a big club like Milan needs.”
The Coach had a particular word of praise, and warning, for former Real Madrid full-back Theo Hernandez.
“Theo doesn’t talk much and he works hard. I liked him. He doesn’t have a great reputation, he’s not an easy lad to deal with, but I have to say in these first 10 days he’s really worked his socks off, never talked back and did things right. I’m pleased.
“He’s been a revelation over these 10 days, but I know that only over time do you get to know people and their real qualities.”
