“I rewatched our defeat to Milan twice on Monday, when I was still tired, and Tuesday, to get a clearer idea of what happened,” explained the Coach in his Press conference.

“I rewatched our defeat to Milan twice on Monday, when I was still tired, and Tuesday, to get a clearer idea of what happened,” explained the Coach in his Press conference.
“I can tell you, it was collectively one of our best defensive performances. The four at the back did well creating moves out of defence too. Where we were lacking at San Siro was in the final third. If we had been more precise, intuitive and dangerous, the game would’ve ended differently.”
Duvan Zapata stormed off after he was substituted in that match, but Giampaolo cut out the controversy.
“Zapata had nothing to do with what I just said. I was referring to all three forwards unable to shake off the marking, not individuals. I am not interested in finding scapegoats. It’s not always possible for an individual striker to play at the best of his abilities, which is why squad rotation exists.
“If we’d had stronger performances, Samp might be in second or third place, but that is not our dimension. We have to realise what we can achieve and how much ambition we have to improve ourselves.
“Udinese are a physical side who know how to clam up, so we must put in a fantastic performance in terms of technique, mentality, hunger and the desire to do something extraordinary. We must go beyond our limitations.
“It’s complicated preparing this tactically, because we don’t know what system Udinese are going to use. Dennis Praet is available, but hasn’t looked sharp in training.”
