Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo admits the injured Dennis Praet is ‘not replaceable’ in his starting line-up.

The Belgian has been ruled out for over a month with a thigh strain, with his Coach acknowledging the news comes as a blow to his side.

“We will unfortunately lose him for a bit of time,” Giampaolo said.

“He isn’t replaceable because he has characteristics that are different from everybody else.

“He isn’t replaceable because he has characteristics that are different from everybody else.

“Finding a replacement in the transfer market is difficult. If there were an opportunity the situation would be more secure and calm, considering other possible injuries and suspensions.”

Sampdoria face Roma today for the second time in a matter of days, with the two clubs having played out a 1-1 draw at Marassi in midweek.

“We have dedicated these two days to recovery.

“In these last two matches we have spent a lot of energy. Especially against Roma we ran a lot given the quality of the opposition.

“So I will have to take the physical condition of the players into consideration.”
