Empoli Coach Marco Giampaolo warned today’s opponents Juventus are “like a beast that never sleeps.”

It kicks off at 14.00 GMT at the Stadio Castellani, click here for a match preview.

“We cannot let our concentration levels drop at any moment,” said the tactician in a Press conference.

“I consider this to be a very complicated test, as Juve are like a beast that never sleeps. I fear that even an excellent performance won’t necessarily be enough to deny them, so we have to add more on top.

“We are in the right form and condition to achieve a result, though. Juventus are not like other sides and even the slightest error is considered unforgivable by the media. I still believe they can come back into the title race.

“There are three points up for grabs, but also the chance for us to gain consistency. If we consider ourselves happy with a good performance and no points, that means we’ve lost something and it won’t help the maturation process.

“I still have a couple of choices to make for the line-up, a lot will depend on how we intend to start and end the match. The characteristics of my players can guide the outcome of the game.”

Riccardo Saponara is guaranteed to start and there are consistent reports he could be moving to Juventus in January.

“Saponara can go to a big club and Empoli can represent the chance to make that final step up. It can propel him on to the international stage and he has the quality to succeed there.”

This week there were also reports that Giampaolo had been considered for the Juventus job six years ago.

“Was I close to Juve in 2009? It’s been seven years, I don’t even remember any more. When you don’t reach an agreement it’s because one or both parties said no. My career certainly didn’t change because of that near miss.”
