Sampdoria Coach Marco Giampaolo says his side’s 1-1 draw with Palermo leaves a bitter taste.

The Blucerchiati dominated proceedings at the Luigi Ferraris for long spells but needed an injury time equaliser from Bruno Fernandes to salvage a point against the Sicilians.

“We played 95 minutes with great intensity and we were almost always in the opposition’s half,” Giampaolo commented after the final whistle in Genoa.

“Palermo punished us on one passage of play. This draw leaves a bitter taste for me, because we deserved much more.”

Giampaolo believes Fernandes’ late goal was the least his players deserved, following Samp being on the receiving end of decisive late goals themselves recently.

“If the team were fighting until the end, it shows there is at least some justice, given that we have lost recent matches in the final minutes.”
