“The derby is for the fans, it’s a family affair,” Giampaolo explained in his pre-match Press conference.

“The derby is for the fans, it’s a family affair,” Giampaolo explained in his pre-match Press conference.

“We, the players and the Coach, have to interpret that feeling in the best way. We need to distinguish between football and the ball.

“Everyone can talk about the ball, football isn’t for everyone. A week ago we were dead… We're the underdogs.

“I know the path Samp can take, we’ve been on it for many months and the objective is to stay there and play for an extraordinary – not ordinary – objective until the end of the season.

“They [Genoa] are a solid team who are always in the game. Tomorrow I expect a difficult game on the level of the opponent, which is to say a physical game and not just a technical one.

“I have huge respect for Genoa, I said that before the first game too.”
