The Rossoneri earned a 2-0 victory in Kosovo last night against local side Feronikeli, with goals from Suso and Fabio Borini.

“It was a good run-out for the lads, although the tempo and quality of opposition was not what we’d been dealing with more recently,” the Coach told Milan TV.

“However, you still learn from every match and we will face teams in Serie A who clam up in defence, so we’ve got to work on ideas to break them down. You need to adjust your approach depending on the characteristics of the opposition sometimes.”

Suso was again used as a trequartista in the first half, but it was Jack Bonaventura who took that role after the break, placing Paqueta in midfield.

“I see Lucas as more of a player in the three-man midfield. I just need to get him into shape and discipline his movements, as he is very instinctive.

“My interpretation of a trequartista is a player with quality whose creativity is a valuable resource for the team. I can give him some guidelines on what positions to take up, but ultimately it’s down to the talent of the player.

“Bonaventura has what it takes, he can see the game and has good intuition about passes. He just needs to rediscover his confidence on a physical level, because he’s been out for many months with that injury. It requires patience and getting to know his body again.”

Rafael Leao made his debut in a Milan jersey and provided the assist for Borini’s goal…

“Leao is also very instinctive. Instinct is all well and good, but there are moments when you need to be orderly and fit within the team organisation. He just arrived, so I am still trying to work out what his best position is.”
