Emanuele Giaccherini is more Angelo Di Livio than Moreno Torricelli, says the Juventus man’s representative.

Giaccherini’s rise in the Italian game has been compared to the career of Torricelli, who came from the amateur ranks to become a regular in Turin.

“Torricelli was a special case,” agent Giulio Marinelli told Radio Sportiva on Friday morning. “He went from the inter-regional Leagues to Juventus – that was incredible.

“I think the comparison with Di Livio is more apt. He had an amazing career, while the road is still long for Emanuele.”

Torricelli and Di Livio, nicknamed the Little Soldier, were part of Marcello Lippi’s first winning Juventus side.

Giaccherini joined the Bianconeri in the summer on a co-ownership deal after just one year of top-flight football with little Cesena.

“Giaccherini has paid his dues with his four years in the Third Division,” added Marinelli. “He has never given up though and that is why he has succeeded.”

The pint-sized attacker can be fielded as a second striker or a winger, although he was used in a central midfield role against Bologna on Thursday.

“I think Giaccherini is a versatile player,” his agent continued. “He can play wide, but also in a more central position.”

Giaccherini scored in the 2-1 Coppa win.
