Emanuele Giaccherini “always dreamed of playing for Napoli” after securing a €1.5m transfer from Sunderland.

The winger revitalised his career on loan at Bologna and with Italy at Euro 2016.

“I am happy, I still need to sign, but I am happy to become a Napoli player,” Giaccherini told Mediaset Premium after today’s medical.

“It’s wonderful to wear that jersey in such an important place. I always dreamed of playing for Napoli.

Sky Sport Italia claim the transfer fee for the 31-year-old is only €1.5m, as he was in the last year of his contract with Sunderland.

His previous clubs include Cesena and Juventus.
