Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi has jumped to the defence of Juventus enigma Sebastian Giovinco.

The 25-year-old returned to Turin this summer after two seasons at the Tardini, but he has yet to convince the critics.

Although he is the club’s top scorer in the League – alongside Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo – his three strikes in eight appearances have not been well received by all.

“It is certainly easier to play for Parma than it is for Juventus,” Ghirardi noted. “However, he only scored one goal for Parma at the start of last season…”

The Italian international eventually fired in 15 goals in 36 games for Parma last term.
