New Roma signing Gervinho has spoken of his pride at joining the capital club and reuniting with Coach Rudi Garcia.

The Ivorian forward worked with the French tactician at Lille, and has admitted that he had no hesitation about leaving former side Arsenal for the Giallorossi.

“Roma is a great team with a great Coach,” he told a Press conference. “Roma showed interest in me and I had no hesitation in accepting their offer.

“I want to show I can contribute to this team.

“I am not in top condition at the moment, but Garcia knows me well and knows that I still have some work to do to get fit.

“I have always had a good relationship with Garcia – he has always given me confidence, and was the first to deploy me on the wing.

“It was a real pleasure for me playing for Arsenal, but after two years of ups and downs it was time for a change.

“Totti? It is an honour to play alongside him. I have admired him on TV from when I was still in Africa.”
