Roma forward Gervinho believes his compatriot Yaya Toure will be a big miss for Manchester City when the two sides meet tomorrow night.

Ivorian midfielder Toure is suspended after being sent off during his side’s home defeat to CSKA Moscow on matchday four, and Gervinho believes that could be important.

“Will they miss Toure? He’s an undeniably great player, and very important for City.

“It’s a shame that he and I won’t get to play an ‘Ivorian derby’.

“Having said that, I’m just focused on myself and on what I have to do in a very important game which we have to win.”

The 27-year-old spent two seasons at Arsenal, but failed to make an impact, but the Giallorossi attacker insists tomorrow’s game is not about proving himself against Premier League opposition.

“Even though I played for Arsenal, this game is huge by itself.

“Our goal is to progress in the competition.

“I work hard in training to show I deserve a starting spot. I hope to show myself to be worthy of important games like this one.

“You have to work harder than everyone else to show you deserve the Coach’s confidence.”
