And the Milan director has insisted that the FIGC can learn from their German counterparts.

“Germany’s victory at the World Cup is as a result of their courage to change things,” she is quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Germany have an innovative federation. Italy have the ability to do the same, but we’re not going to.

“Germany deserved their win last night because they were the strongest team. Success doesn’t happen by accident.

“This all comes from the start of the century when they decided to rip up the rule book and start again.

“They have invested massive amounts in youth talent, integration and a footballing philosophy.

“That is everything that Italy have not done.”
