The Italian international has been linked with the Marassi outfit after he turned down the offer of a new contract in Sicily.

"It's something that died even before it was born," Genoa sporting director Stefano Capozucca told Palermo24.net.

"I spoke with Palermo director Sean Sogliano about him by offering Eduardo in exchange, but he tuned that down.

"At the moment there are no more channels for the talks to open again."

Palermo have offered the 'keeper a new deal which would see his current €250,000 a season wages double.

Sirigu has turned that offer down.

Italian giants Roma have also been linked with him, but so too have Schalke 04 and Atletico Madrid.

The German club recently sold Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich, while Manchester United signed David De Gea from Atletico.
