Genoa are in advanced negotiations with Algeria international midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, claim Sportitalia.
The 26-year-old is a free agent after his contract with Schalke 04 was allowed to run down.
Formerly of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle, he has been out of action since March following groin surgery.
Because of those injury concerns, he made only 10 appearances for Schalke in all competition last season.
According to the report from Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, talks have been progressing well over personal terms.
He expects Genoa to secure a deal soon, suggesting Bentaleb might already be in Italy for the final details.
