“There is nothing with Monaco and even less with the other clubs being paired with me,” the centre-forward told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I signed a four-year contract with Genoa, but I need to understand what their intentions are for me.”

Club CEO Pietro Lo Monaco, in an interview with Il Secolo XIX, seemed to suggest that the club wouldn’t risk sacrificing him.

“Offers for Gilardino could arrive and we would evaluate them if necessary,” stated the former Catania official.

“But when a striker has a bad season, they are usually devastating in the following campaign. Therefore…”

The 29-year-old scored four goals in 14 games for the Grifone. He hit two in 12 for the Viola before his New Year switch.
