According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Coach has doubts that President Erick Thohir will genuinely reinforce this squad the way he needs to compete in Serie A.

Rather than go for any of the clubs he has been linked to recently, it’s claimed he’d most likely take a year off.

He was asked if Inter would rebuild from Mancini and director Piero Ausilio.

“Anything can happen in football, but I think so,” he replied in the Press conference.

“It hurts everyone not being in the Champions League, as Inter are such a prestigious club they ought to be in this tournament every year.

“I always want the maximum from myself and my objective is to win. I’d like to challenge for the top every year, not just to come third.

“There are nonetheless some positives in this campaign. Many players improved and there is a solid base to build on. Unfortunately in the second half we showed the same weaknesses that we’ve had throughout the season. We go too deep, whereas we should keep the opposition far away from our penalty area.

“We need to improve in realising when it is time to attack and when to defend. Juventus have that right.”
