According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Romelu Lukaku wants more playing time at Inter and preferred training sessions under Antonio Conte, which were more suitable for his body.

The Belgian striker is expected to start against Fiorentina today after scoring four goals in two games for Belgium during the international break.

Lukaku has been struggling with injuries this season and has only netted five goals in 19 appearances with Inter. The Nerazzurri will send him back to Chelsea when his loan spell expires at the end of June, but he could still sit down with the Blues in the summer, trying to bring Big Rom back to the club for a third time. It all depends on what Lukaku will show in the last two months of the campaign.

According to Gazzetta, the 29-year-old expects more playing time and wants to be at the core of Inter’s project. He is determined to stay at the Stadio Meazza in 2023-24, but is not totally convinced about Simone Inzaghi’s methods.

‘Those who saw the old Lukaku with Conte believe the striker is paying a high price for training sessions that do not improve him and don’t allow him to reach his peak,’ wrote Gazzetta on Saturday’s printed edition.

‘Those training sessions do not suit his physical structure and this is also what the player thinks.’

Lukaku is also unhappy because he’s been replaced too many times this season, while he is convinced that he can make the difference also in the final minutes of a match. He has only played two games from start to finish this term, while his last goal from open play with the Nerazzurri was in August against Lecce, almost eight months ago.
