Gazidis will leave Arsenal to become Milan’s new CEO at the start of December after a decade in North London, with Scaroni of the opinion the Greek-South African led the Gunners to ‘the top of European football’.

“On behalf of the club’s board of directors and all the fans, I welcome Ivan Gazidis,” the outgoing President told the club’s official website.

“Since the launch of our club’s rebuilding project, the search for a CEO was a priority and one we carried out carefully so we’d make the best possible choice.

“Ivan Gazidis will give Milan an extraordinary level of competence and experience in the football industry.

“He played an important role in the development of professional football in the US and led Arsenal to the top of European football.

“We’re confident that he’ll also achieve this virtuous growth at Milan. We now have the essential ingredients to be successful again, although we know it’ll take time, effort and perseverance.”
