The Brazilian was officially appointed as the new Nerazzurri boss on Christmas Eve, just months after he left city rivals Milan.

Although Gattuso accepts that he didn't have a great rapport with Leonardo last term, he is shocked by the South American's decision to go back into coaching.

"We didn't really have a relationship, nothing, there simply was no feeling between us," the former Italian international noted.

"Considering the squad we had last season you have to say that Leonardo did a good job, but he also said that coaching wasn't for him.

"He didn't want to be a Coach and said as much on a number of occasions. Evidently the God of money can produce miracles.

"I wish Leonardo well, but I also hope that he doesn't win anything with Inter."

Leonardo has limited coaching experience, given that he only spent one season on the Rossoneri bench which was his first and only job until Inter called.
