Milan insist rumours Gennaro Gattuso wanted to resign as Coach are “completely false”.

The Rossoneri are in ritiro after the 3-0 defeat to Verona, with the decision announced yesterday.

However, it was also rumoured that the Coach was so incensed with his side’s lack of reaction to the loss that he threatened to resign.

Milan often respond to the day’s media reports on their official website, and in their Press round-up the club has completely denied those reports.

Milan often respond to the day’s media reports on their official website, and in their Press round-up the club has completely denied those reports.

“Rino Gattuso never had the slightest thought of resigning,” the Diavolo insisted on their official website.

“As early as yesterday afternoon it was not only perceived but understood that these social media rumours were completely false.

“Milan must fight and must recover as soon as possible. Yesterday at Casa Milan, the club and the Coach worked hard to plan the work during the days of ritiro, and analysed useful ways to get out of this difficult period.

“All components of the club are fired-up and committed on that front, to ensure that the shared choice of a ritiro is experienced in a useful, mature and constructive way.”
