Gian Piero Gasperini believes Atalanta’s 2-2 draw against Bologna is a ‘bad result’ and suggests his players were ‘presumptuous.’

Atalanta took a two-goal lead at the stadio Dall’Ara against Bologna, but the Rossoblu recovered from two goals down and managed a draw against La Dea.

“It’s a bad result for us,” Gasperini told Sky Sport.

“We were dominating the game, but they are comeback specialists. We had many goal-scoring chances and it’s hard to explain what happens. We have thrown two points away. Being presumptuous is not something we can afford. It would be very bad to be presumptuous and arrogant,” he added.

Atalanta had an amazing year as they reached they once against qualified for the Champions League and reached the quarter-finals of the competition last term.

“It was an extraordinary year, but the pandemic takes away the joy of the results on the field,” said Gasperini.

La Dea have secured the services of Joakim Mæhle from Genk while Papu Gomez seems on his way out of the club as he didn’t travel to Bergamo with his teammates.

“It’s not the case to talk about Gomez,” Gasperini said.

“Maehle’s move is official for Genk, when it will be official for us too we’ll speak about him. He could be a good reinforcement even if we have strong players in that position, such as [Robin] Gosens and [Hans] Hateboer.”
