“We have to compliment Frosinone, as few believed they could have such a competitive campaign and they’ve proved themselves to be a real team with strong mentality,” said the Coach.

“This is a very important game for us and anything but easy. We are ready to suffer to the end for our safety, but in such a troubled campaign it’d be satisfying to celebrate early.

“We are highly motivated for this game with Frosinone, as it’s match point for us. We have to make sure there isn’t a repeat of the Carpi encounter.”

The Grifone lost 2-1 at home to newly-promoted Carpi in November, one of several poor results that saw them slide back into the danger zone.

“It has been a strange season and often the injuries piled up, affecting our results. Clearly Alessio Cerci and Leonardo Pavoletti are two important players, but I am convinced we’ll have the resources within the squad to do well.”

Along with Cerci and Pavoletti, Genoa are also missing Cristian Ansaldi and Nicolas Andre Burdisso.

Genoa squad for Frosinone: Perin, De Maio, Izzo, Marchese, Capel, Suso, Ntcham, Pandev, Lazovic, Lamanna, Munoz, Fiamozzi, Rigoni, Dzemaili, Donnarumma, Gabriel Silva, Matavz, Tachtsidis, Rincon, Laxalt
