Lyon are back in training and the former Roma coach was happy to see his players train again, but Ligue 1 has been cancelled and Garcia will have only one game, in the Coupe de la Ligue Final against Paris Saint-Germain, until the resumption of Champions League to play again.

“We are happy to be able to train again,” Garcia said during a press conference. “This stop has been very long. In these three months, the players have worked individually, without the ball and away from the pitch.

“Now there’s enthusiasm and we must keep it up in view of the next season. We just have to be happy that we are together.

“We will train on an athletic and technical level, in small groups of ten. We will have the opportunity to play friendlies and will be on par with Paris Saint-Germain but we will have a 12-game deficit compared to Juventus.”

Lyon, who lead 1-0 after the first leg of the last 16 against Juventus in the Champions League, finished seventh in Ligue 1, but Garcia can aim for a place in Europe next year through the two cup competitions.

“We still have the chance to play in a European Cup next season.”
