“As long as there is life there is hope, as they say,” Garcia has told Sky Sport 24 today.
“Whenever a week passes and the gap remains the same, it is more difficult. But just when it seems that nothing can happen, perhaps a surprise will arrive.
“We are going to play in Florence [on Saturday] in a game that seems difficult, whilst that of Juventus [at home to Bologna] seems easy. But you never know.
“Is the gap between us and Juve fair? Both teams are having a record season. We want to win every game and it seems that Juventus also want to.”
The Frenchman has turned around Roma’s fortunes since his summer arrival.
“I knew coming in that this would be a difficult environment, the team needed to find new pleasure in their work on the field. Then from here the victories arrived.
“The team can play in several ways? The credit for this belongs to everyone. The best victory I have achieved here has been to restore the fans’ pride. A result that we have had for quite a while.
“For example, when we played Atalanta, the atmosphere at the Olimpico was fantastic. This union between players and fans is a wonderful thing, a great satisfaction.
“Is this my Roma? Before, the fans were disappointed, but you must always have respect for all. It is when things do not go well that you need to be close to the team.
“I was convinced of this team’s quality and that it could play entertaining football and win, and this has been the most important thing and the secret to the results.”
Garcia was asked about any specific transfers he has asked Roma for come the summer. Jackson Martinez was mentioned specifically.
“I have not spoken about this. The only thing I have talked about is my desire, in having a squad like this, to be able to keep it intact, before making any purchases.
“The most important thing is, next year in the Champions League, to at least progress past the group stage and then until we cannot fight with the huge European sides.
“We will try to do so in the future, but Roma are not there at this moment, as Juventus have also shown in Europe.”
Roma are expected to open talks with the 50-year-old over a contract extension.
“I am fine here, I will speak with the club at the end of the season. I love Italy, especially Rome, which is the capital.
“Here, football is lived with great passion, I am a little more measured and different, but I like it.
“We will try to build a very strong team because all the Roma fans deserve this. It is important to dream big.”
