Rudi Garcia says he’s not worried by the fact that Francesco Totti has only taken part in one Roma training session this week.

The Giallorossi captain was instrumental in his side’s Derby della Capitale draw with Lazio, scoring twice as the Lupi came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2, but has only trained once at Trigoria this week.

“I think if we count up all the training sessions Totti has done in his life he’ll be fine,” Garcia smiled as he addressed journalists at his Press conference ahead of the trip to Palermo.

“Francesco was effective in the penalty area in the second half [against Lazio]. It was important to drive Lazio backward, even though they were winning and it was normal for them to clam up a bit.

“Roma did well to push and create scoring chances. For me the best defence is a good offense, and Roma did well to push, especially down the left where people say we’re weak.

“Everyone says we should stick to the right flank, but we’ve shown we have a lot of solutions in attack.

“Totti further forward? He’s already advanced, if he was any further forward he’d be behind the goal. His game is coming deep to get the ball.

“When he comes deep the other attackers must push forward, it’s a matter of balance.”
