Roma director general Mauro Baldissoni says Coach Rudi Garcia knows what went wrong against Bayern Munich.

The Giallorossi were beaten 7-1 at home by the German champions, and the Coach carried the can for the thrashing after the game, saying the first half collapse was ‘my fault entirely’.

Baldissoni has appeared to echo Garcia’s comments, while reiterating that the result was a freak one.

“They [Bayern Munich] are one of the strongest teams in the world, that was not surprising,” Baldissoni told Roma TV.

“The result however was surprising, because we thought we’d do better. In particular, the Coach knows what did not work well.

“We lost, but a result like this doesn’t change much, as long as you learn from what happened and do better in the next game.

“If there really as big a gap between the two teams [as the scoreline suggests] we should be concerned, but there isn’t. Let’s move forward convinced that we are better than we showed out there.

“We have an opportunity to play this team again in two weeks and we have the chance to show a different side to us, and regain a sense of pride.”

Despite the humbling defeat, Roma’s fans cheered the players off the pitch at full time, and Baldissoni singled the supporters out for praise.

“The crowd gave us a beautiful backdrop, we work hard to bring people to see us play at a certain level, unfortunately today that level was low.

“What this team is doing should not be forgotten, but I was told the crowd were very generous to the players.

“A message to the fans? Stay behind this team, because it will bring you great satisfaction.

“Now is not the time to talk to the team if you are not giving short messages of encouragement.

“Our methods and our players do not change. They know they have to bounce back quickly, and they will.”
