Rudi Garcia felt a draw was “more logical” at San Siro after Roma fell 2-1 late on to Inter.

The Giallorossi not only risk falling further behind Lazio after one point from two rounds, but if Napoli beat Sampdoria then the gap from fourth will be just two points.

“I think a draw would’ve been a more logical result, but we know at this level a game can be decided by a single incident,” the tactician told Sky Sport Italia.

“We hit the woodwork in the first half, but after the break played more like Roma. We equalised, pushed hard to win this match and in the end conceded the goal of defeat.

“I have nothing to complain about when it comes to the attitude and desire to win in the second half from my lads. We don’t have time to complain, as there’s another game on Wednesday.

“Ibarbo was tired and Pjanic had cramp, as he hadn’t played for a while. We were more incisive in the second half with the strikers running into space more. To introduce Doumbia and change system it took too long, as we didn’t know if Seydou Keita could continue.

“I think our problem tonight was more playing from the back than the strikers. We made too many mistakes and were unlucky on Ibarbo’s chance. We need to be more efficient in front of goal too, as we had the chances to score a second and win the game.

“It was a very even game, but we made some bad choices in defence on the second goal. Lukas Podolski’s through ball got a deflection off Daniele De Rossi and became perfect for Mauro Icardi.

“In general the team showed good quality and it was nothing like our last performance against Atalanta.

“It was a good performance and the lads must raise their heads as we’ve got another game in four days. We must do it with the same attitude, but more efficiency in attack and defence.

“We know Inter have strong players and a defeat can happen here. Nothing is lost, even if the season is carrying on and there are fewer rounds to go. All we can do is win on Wednesday against Sassuolo.”
