And the board member has insisted that his team have to hold on to the last remaining Champions League place.

“We must only think of the next five games,” he told reporters. “It is crucial for us that we keep hold of third place.

“Comebacks are always difficult – yesterday we lost for the first time in a long time, and despite that we are still at risk.

“Next season we will have a better start [than we did this year]. We cannot concede the same sort of points difference again.

“The important thing now is to keep up and try to get as many points as possible.”
