“We think we have the best squad in Italy,” the official told Sky Sport Italia on Monday afternoon.

“There is a normal rivalry between us and Juventus. Milan, Inter and Juventus have almost always been fighting for the major honours.

“The winner changes and it seems that the Scudetto is between Milan and Juventus this season,” he continued.

“We have a four point advantage, a small barrier. It’s like a bonus to spend over the 11 games which are left.”

Turning to Ibrahimovic, the official was asked to comment on the chances of the super Swede being handed the Golden Ball.

“The Golden Ball often goes to the best player from a winning team,” he responded. “Ibrahimovic will have to win something important for Milan first and then he may be a candidate for the Ballon d’Or.”

Galliani then seemed to cool reports that his club were thinking about an audacious bid for Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

“President Silvio Berlusconi was only joking and I was surprised that his words received so much prominence. Nevertheless, I don’t dream about Cristiano Ronaldo every night…”
