Adriano Galliani says Milan President Silvio Berlusconi wants to return the Rossoneri to the top of European football.

The Milanese giants are absent from European competition altogether this season, but the joint-CEO says the aim is to soon be back among the elite.

“The President is a champion,” Galliani told reporters outside Milanello after Berlusconi had visited the team.

“The brand is growing more and more. We have a sponsor of international importance. This is a brand they like, we’ve won the most in world football.

“In 2007 we were top in the European rankings. It’s clear that things are different now, but not totally different.

“The President wants to keep Milan at the top where they deserve to be.

“Real Madrid went 32 years without being European champions, but they were still Real Madrid.

“Our brand and the number of supporters we have has not been affected.”
