Milan CEO Adriano Galliani says a promised offer for M’Baye Niang from Leicester “never arrived”.

The Foxes were believed to be interested in the Rossoneri forward, but it was reported earlier today that a €16m offer had been rejected.

However, speaking to assembled media after a meeting of the Lega Serie A, the director admitted an offer had been expected, but it never materialised.

“Niang will be there for the derby [on Sunday],” Galliani confirmed.

“Leicester said they’d make an offer, if they had we'd have evaluated it. We were anticipating an offer, but it never arrived.

"[manager Claudio] Ranieri called this morning and said they'd decided not to bid, so the issue never even came up.

“The player is happy to stay.”

Galliani also addressed rumours that the Diavolo are looking to hijack Roma’s bid for Diego Perotti of Genoa.

“Perotti is a good player, but if there’s one thing we’re not lacking it’s attacking players. We also have [Alessandro] Matri and [Stephan] El Shaarawy out on loan.

"Our transfer campaign is closed, closed, closed."
