The Rossoneri swept Samp aside 4-1 last night with Niang scoring two and providing an assist for Jack Bonaventura. Luiz Adriano was also on target late on.

“It was an excellent performance, the best I’ve seen at San Siro this year,” the CEO told Milan Channel.

“I like the 4-4-2 system very much, but I continue to believe it’s an issue of attitude rather than tactics. Obviously then there are some systems that work better than others.

“This approach makes the most of our wide players. It’s almost a 4-2-4 with Alessio Cerci and Bonaventura pushing hard. With this system we cover all areas of the field much better.

“The 4-4-2 also reminds me of the old Milan and I’d say it worked very well indeed. It’s a step forward and easily the best home performance this season, but I don’t want to say anything because we got ahead of ourselves after the win at Lazio too.

“I want to particularly praise Niang, as let’s not forget he is 20 years old. He was playing for Caen and I went to get him because he seemed a great talent.

“The only credit I will take is resisting Genoa, as Enrico Preziosi wanted him on loan with an option to buy. In any case, I thank Genoa for their contribution in helping Niang grow.”

Galliani explained the injury crisis is beginning to calm down too.

“Mario Balotelli is happy because he wakes up and no longer feels pain. On Monday he’ll start kicking the ball, but he’s been out for two months, so we have to take it slowly.

“We hope to have him ready for December 20 against Frosinone.”
