New Inter signing Gabriel Barbosa promises he’ll “play any role” and is “looking forward” to his debut.

The Brazilian striker, known as Gabigol, has joined the Nerazzurri from Santos, and could be in line to make his first appearance when they face Bologna at the weekend.

“I can play in any role, it depends what the Coach [Frank de Boer] wants,” Gabigol explained to assembled media at his presentation.

“I want to contribute and help the team. I’m looking forward to my debut. We’re playing well now and we have to continue this way.

“I want to contribute to the performance of this club.

“I’ve seen big differences from the Brazilian League, the Italian one is much more tactical, with more contact.

“I’ve trained a lot and I’ve had a rest. I feel ready.”

Could the forward have earned more money elsewhere?

“I had this offer from China, the salary was astronomical, but I’m at a great club. I’ve been impressed by the fans, they’re extraordinary and promise great motivation and commitment.

“The important thing is we’re always supported. Everyone has been nice to me and I immediately felt at home. I’m happy with how I was received.

“Inter were always my first choice, also thanks to the affection I received on social media. I had offers from Spain, England…

“I think I’ve come to the best club in Italy, and I’m happy with my choice.”

Mauro Icardi has six goals in five games so far this season, but Gabigol doesn’t appear worried by the competition.

“Inter don’t only have him, they have so many great strikers. He’s an idol, I’ve always followed him when I’ve had the chance to see matches. He always scores.

“Our objectives? What’s important is to win. Inter have a great project and a great Coach.”
