Southampton are reportedly very close to Napoli’s Manolo Gabbiadini, after raising their offer to €16m plus €4m in bonuses.
In recent days the Saints have emerged as the front-runners to sign the forward, but the Partenopei were refusing to lower their €20m asking price.
However, Rai is now reporting that an offer of €16m [£13.6m] plus another €4m [£3.4m] in bonuses has been submitted by the English side.
The two clubs are still negotiating, with Gabbiadini currently in Milan to take advantage of a rest day.
