Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani discusses the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a Senior Advisor, not being ‘timid’ on the transfer market and being unhappy with current results.

The trip to Salernitana kicks off at the Stadio Arechi at 19.45 GMT.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from today’s four Serie A games on the LIVEBLOG.

This is the first match with Ibrahimovic on the touchline as ‘Senior Advisor’ to the club and he arrived in Salerno along with Furlani this evening.

The Swede was spotted standing on the pitch watching during the warm-up and it is still not entirely clear how many powers – if any – he will have.

“Zlatan is a special person who has a lot to say and can do a great deal for us,” Furlani told DAZN.

“He has already done a lot for Milan and will do even more. I am fortunate to have him with me, just as Milan and all the Milan fans are fortunate. I am very pleased and hopeful for this new adventure.”

Meanwhile, patron Gerry Cardinale said he was ‘disappointed’ with the Serie A and Champions League results so far this season.

“Gerry is a winner, so he is someone who is never fully happy, because obviously Milan want to win. As for our objectives, we are in the running for three trophies: Coppa Italia, Europa League and Serie A.

“We would’ve liked to stay in the Champions League for longer and to have a few more Serie A points in the table, but we will push to the end. That is our duty, for us and for the fans.”

Furlani was asked about potential approaches for January reinforcements in the transfer window.

“First things first, we have a strong squad, in our view. Obviously, we have been affected by injuries, but it gave young players the opportunity to prove themselves. As you already saw over the summer, we are not timid or inactive on the market. If there are opportunities in January, then we will take them, but first of all we have faith in our current squad.”

Yesterday the European Court of Justice ruled that UEFA could not fine clubs for trying to set up a breakaway Super League.

Milan were one of the teams who had at first adhered to the project only to suddenly change their minds like many others 48 hours later.

“President Paolo Scaroni has already talked about this,” noted Furlani. “A lot has happened, we all need to analyse, study and understand the situation. Our priority is to concentrate on Italian football and the problems within Italian football, such as making it better and more competitive at the European level.”
