Rumours have intensified over the last several months that James Pallotta was ready to walk away from the club, with reports of interest from the same Qatari family that owns Paris Saint-Germain.

Recently it’s been reported that the Friedkin Group from the USA have shown the most concrete interest in taking over the Roman club, with Pallotta himself confirming negotiations.

And now Il Messaggero newspaper report that the group, together with financial advisors JP Morgan, are working with Studio Chiomenti to begin due diligence on the club’s accounts.

The Roman paper suggests an offer could be forthcoming, believed to be around the €750m mark, including the €80m spent on trying to build the new Roma stadium.

Pallotta, who has owned the club since 2011, would remain as a minority shareholder.
