Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti is on his way to Lecce and has already sent a message to his new fans: ‘I am arriving, Forza Lecce.’
The 2018 France World Cup winner is expected in town today ahead of a loan move from Barcelona.
He has confirmed his imminent transfer on Instagram in a video where he speaks Italian. “I am arriving, Forza Lecce,” said Umtiti smiling.
The Catalans have confirmed the agreement with the newly-promoted side. The 28-year-old will join the Giallorossi on a dry loan deal until June 2023, so Lecce don’t have an option to buy him permanently at the end of the season.
What a steal for Lecce, I hope he will give his best and bring some safety to the newly promoted side so they can stay up. When they relegated 2 seasons ago it was a shame, they were playing some of the most open total football in the league so good luck to them!
