Former Inter Scudetto winner Mauro Bellugi has died aged 71. Back in December he had both his legs amputated following complications due to COVID.

Bellugi turned 71 on February 7 and Il Corriere della Sera reports the former Inter Scudetto winner died in Milan this morning.

“They even took away the leg that I used to score against Borussia Monchengladbach,” he said.

“At least they might give me some blades so I’ll be as fast as Oscar Pistorius.”

Bellugi played for Inter from 1969 until 1974 and scored one goal in 140 appearances with the Nerazzurri.

He won a Scudetto with Inter in the 1970-71 campaign.

He also played for Napoli, Bologna and Pistoiese.

A minute of silence will be held before each Serie A game this weekend and Inter will wear black armbands.
