Tavecchio has admitted that football must do more to address the problem, but calls for help from the Italian government.
“The football world is obliged to take responsibility,” the President told Sky.

Tavecchio has admitted that football must do more to address the problem, but calls for help from the Italian government.
“The football world is obliged to take responsibility,” the President told Sky.
“However, the state must help to protect football from violent actions with deterrents and severe penalties.
“The FIGC feels aggrieved to be party to this spiral of violence, and therefore calls for an urgent meeting with Minister of the Interior [Angelino] Alfano.
“We need new ways to intervene. In an uncertain situation, I agree with the decision of the sporting tribunal to wait for more evidence.
“In any case, what happened was very serious, if someone can get into the stadium with a ‘bomb’ which could kill someone, then our country can no longer protect itself from pure thuggery.
“We have to fight with the criminal code and and be certain of punishment. If the bomb had exploded in San Pietro [hotel] wouldn’t the perpetrator already be in jail?”
